Public transport
Car club The site benefits from a high PTAL (Public Transport Accessibility Level) rating of 5 out of a possible 6 due to its proximity to frequent rail and bus services.
Because of this, and due to the increasingly high cost of car ownership, this development will appeal to individuals who do not own a car.
There are a number of factors which St James has considered in determining the appropriate level of parking for the development. These factors include the following:
- The parking provision complies with national, regional & local planning policy.
- A short term car park is proposed in accordance with the planning brief.
- The technical constraints on site limit the amount of parking that can be provided.
- The number of proposed short stay spaces is the minimum amount required by Waitrose and to serve Raynes Park Local Centre; which leaves the residual amount (19) to service the residential properties.
A Green Travel Plan has been produced which proposes the following initiatives:
- The existing pedestrian access from Coombe Lane to West Barnes Lane is to be retained and enhanced to provide a safer environment.
- Deliveries for the supermarket are to be segregated from the general traffic.
- A car club will be provided for the benefit existing and future residents of Raynes Park.
- Promotion of the use of sustainable transport. Measures will include; information on local transport routes, cycle parking and discount vouchers for bicycle purchases for new residents
- Should local residents decide that they would like a controlled parking zone (CPZ), St James would make a contribution towards its implementation. Furthermore future residents of our scheme will not be eligible for a parking permit.
- Further contributions are proposed towards sustainable transport.
