A development agreement has been signed with Waitrose that is subject to achieving a satisfactory planning consent and a car park management strategy.

The proposed Waitrose would have a retail sales area of 1,129 m² plus an 84 m² coffee shop. By comparison, the existing Waitrose stores in New Malden and Surbiton are 1,282 m² and 1905 m² respectively.

The store would provide a wide range of services including fresh foods and groceries, wine collection, specialist meat, fish & cheese counters together with a delicatessen, patisserie and a hot food counter.

The coffee shop would have seating for up to 40 people and offer a range of freshly made baguettes, sandwiches and salads, cakes, soups and a selection of breakfast foods daily to eat in or take away.

The store will create up to 140 jobs for the local community consisting of full and part time roles and all applicants of all ages would be welcome.

Waitrose is fully committed to the delivery of a new supermarket in Raynes Park as confirmed in the following statement made by Nigel Keen, Waitrose Director of Development:

"We are delighted to have signed an agreement in May which commits us to the scheme put forward by St James. It offers Waitrose a fantastic opportunity to contribute towards the regeneration of an important part of Raynes Park. We firmly believe that a Waitrose food shop will help add to the vibrancy of the area and offer more choice for the local community. Waitrose places great value on becoming part of a town's fabric and we have worked hard with the developer to ensure the application being submitting is one that best meet the needs of Raynes Park and existing businesses."
